Sylvia Ferradal Headshot

What do you to relax?

I’m a big fan of nature so, when I feel overwhelmed I like to go for a run or a long walk and clear my mind. However, I’m not always have the time so, I also like to spend time doing crafts with my daughter, or explore new coffee places with a good book.

What is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?

It is not a single piece of advice what I remember, but little pieces of interesting conversations that inspired me one way or another. If I have to choose one, I’d say … “You are doing great, just keep going”.

What was your biggest challenge to date?

I guess the most difficult challenge was to redefine myself as a motion graphic artist while trying very hard to being the best mum for my daughter; but after many sleepless nights and lots of coffee I’ve done it. Hooray!!!

Who are your heroes, both in and out of the business?

I can’t recall a single hero. For me, inspiration and motivation come from different people. My family and friends have supported me in many different ways, but also people that I meet along the way, or things I see and somehow spark my inspiration.

What made you want to work in the design industry?

I have always been interested in visual arts and crafts so, it’s part of me, I guess.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?

The proudest and more challenging moment of my career was to complete my dissertation, which is about children emotional learning through play, so it involved a lot of crafts with kids, especially my daughter. At the end of it, I got lots of laughs and the cutest sort animated story. As a result, I got a distinction and the class medal so, ¨Well done me¨

What is your key tool in any marketing campaign?

Pen and paper. Any great marketing campaign starts with a good concept, so when it comes to coming up with ideas I’m old school. Taking notes and sketching on paper never failed me.

What is the best thing about social media?

I use Social Media for two major things. The first one is communication and keeping an eye on family members and friends, and the second one is to find inspiration from other artists and/or people.

What is your favourite aspect of your job?

I’ve love to sketch new ideas and research new ways to technically develop those in a visually engaging way, so the beginning of every project always brings me excitement and joy, that reminds me to my childhood.

Favourite quote…

Albert Einstein said once, ¨In the midst of every crisis, lies great opportunity¨, so don’t be Afraid to make mistakes, they might turn out to be a great discovery.
