It’s been a long-time coming but low and behold – Newcastle upon Tyne finally gets its very own cycle-hire scheme in the form of ScratchBikes and the brains behind the operation, Robert Grisdale and Jack Payne, chose to partner up with Kino Creative to develop the company website and part of the bike hire/unlock system.

The big WordPress scoop of the day is the deal struck with the creators of WooThemes Custom Navigation to include it’s code into the core of WordPress 3. This is a major addition that will add some really cool functionality.
I see on the Guardian website today that they have unveiled an interesting experiment they’ve been working on called Zeitgeist (A German word which means “spirit of the times”). They describe it as: “a new way to reveal and explore content on the Guardian site, according to “social signals” from users.”
