This eBook only publisher website is the latest Little Brown imprint to hit the web.
Featuring competitions, current and future book information, and the sort of fully featured blog you’d expect, this site required a heavily modified version of WordPress to run.

The new PelicanPR website is a complete redesign of the original. The new image driven site is as intuitive to use as it is good to look at.
“Thanks Seth for all you have done to help. It looks great!” Sarah Manton, Pelican PR.

We’re proud to be working with Codeworks, standard bearers for the burgeoning digital scene in the North East.
Recently we’ve worked on their Connect, DesignItBuildIt, Jobs In Digital and Thinking Digital websites, all powered by the magnificent PHP.

If you live in Newcastle you’ll know about ScratchBikes, but you’re unlikely to know that we built the website. As a customised WordPress implementation, the site is easy to update and makes full use of WordPresss’ awesome blogging technology.
Stylishly designed by #hazzus and diligently build by Kino, the ScratchBikes site was a great colaboration for a cool client.
The new Lucy Anne Holmes website is one of our best sites for Little Brown. It is always tricky combining the glitz and style of the genre with the functionality required of a WordPress, but in this case we feel we pulled it off…..with bells on!
“I would like to say a big thanks for coming up with such a winning design, everyone really is very pleased.” Emma Williams, Editor, Little Brown Books

Startup company forward2me offers a parcel forwarding service to British ex-pats. We were brought on board half way through website development to inject our unique originality into the design process, and integrated the new design into the existing Joomla framework.
Forward2me were delighted with the results and immediately set us on everything from improving their logo to social network rebranding. We are also providing a full ongoing SEO package to improve site ranking in search engines.
“… I wanted to say I think our contact page is the best contact page I have ever seen – thanks! Great job.” Janet Grundy – Forward2me

Nora Roberts, also writing under the name J.D.Robb, is a bestselling author with over 4 million copies of her books in print. The challenge publishers Little Brown set us in redesigning her website was to present her two very different writing personas in one website while maintaining consistency across the design.
We settled on a vertically split design with the light half representing Nora Roberts and the darker half representing J.D. Robb. It is possible to switch seamlessly from one side to the other from any page on the site, each with it’s own blog and author specific navigation.

This North East letting agent reqired a website redesign and we were happy to oblige. In order to showcase their available properties, we integrated a property feed from Dezrez, an online estate agent service. These properties are fully searchable with all the details and images pulled in from the Dezrez database.
We also built in an advanced support chat function that enables users to text chat live to online operators, and used jquery to add functionality where necessary across the site.

We were given greater licence than usual to be creative on the Fearless Marketing website. As an online marketing and SEO specialist, they wanted the site to make an impact and suggest a dynamic and forward thinking business.
Other than blog posts, the entire WordPress site is on one page with smooth jQuery scrolling when jumping between sections. We also designed the bold logo and quirky branding and implemented it across various media.

We are often approached by clients who have a website which isn’t quite hitting the mark but don’t want to start over from scratch. Leoni Sceti’s existing site worked but was a bit severe, and faceless, they also needed a bit more flexibility in terms of updating content as their existing news section was a little clunky.
Rebuilding the site in WordPress solved the content management issue with it’s unrivalled blogging features and we softened the original design, rounding corners and brightening the colour palette for a lighter feel.
Website: www.leonisceti-group.com
Continuing their push to use the same content management system across all their author’s sites, Little Brown asked us to redesign the Sarah Waters website and build it with WordPress at the core.
WordPress is their preferred choice as well as ours thanks to its ease of use, flexibility and strong blogging and social media capabilities.

The RDFX site is a prime example of how attention to detail can make or break a website. The client already had a WordPress based website with a theme in place. The chosen theme however was drab and uninteresting so we were called in to give the site a facelift.
We really lifted the site with the simple addition of some subtle gradients, colour tweaks, the addition of some custom jQuery social icons and a fading testimonials box on the homepage.
Website: www.rdfx.eu
“I love the site, it works extremely well and is simple to use… perfectly to my brief.”
Michael Forster, Director, AMV
The website design brief was to keep the site clean and minimal, and to appeal to anyone in the north east of england and newcastle who wanted a band for an event. We also designed the logo, again keeping it simple, and applied a desaturated look to the template of the site to enable the images to shine.
The website design and development uses WordPress as a content management system. WordPress also handles the onsite eCommerce payment facility.

“Congratulations! Love the new website – massive improvement.”
Georgie Cameron, Managing Director, AdmiralPR
We’re very proud of the AdmiralPR website. For a start it was a pleasure working with AdmrialPR on the project, and their enthusiam for WordPress and the marketing advantages that it brings was very helpful during the early design stages. The design also benefited from a strong brand produced by Stark Hartley Atkinson.
Technically the site uses WordPress, and takes advantage of a few new WordPress 3 features such as; custom post types, custom menus, and post thumbnails.
Following on from the success of the Pelican People website, we were asked to update it’s sister site, Pelican PR. Sticking to the original design, we integrated WordPress to give them a much more flexible content management system and all the powerful blogging functionality that goes with it.
We made extensive use of WordPress’s new custom post types and navigation menus to make the back end user experience as smooth as possible, and also added custom built jquery interactivity to jazz the site up a bit and present information in a more appealing manner.

The new look Alexander McCall Smith website was one of the most complex websites we’ve built, but hopefully you won’t be able to tell that when you visit it!
Alexander has written prolifically throughout his life, and as such the site needed the structure to handle his wide variety of novels and series of novels. The look and feel of each section needed to reflect the quirky and unique nature of each series too, so there were both design, animation and structural challenges to be tackled.
Again WordPress was up to the job, and we’re delighted to bring Alexander’s new site to the world.

We’re proud to have designed and developed the Newcastle Healthy Minds website for the NHS.
The site uses a unique system that enables the public to securely refer themselves to the NHS for help with mental health issues. This makes it much easier for people to get help quickly, helps save time and money. Other general information about mental health is also provided in the form of audio, animation and reading materials.
This is the first time the North Of Tyne NHS has use WordPress to power a website, and so far it has been very well received.

The Arts Research Digest houses a large electronic archive of journals and research papers. We have built the site entirely in WordPress requiring a high level of customisation, really testing the limits of the platform.
The site features a fully categorised archive with custom search capabilities, and on the fly PDF generation, user registration and management of paid subscribers, blogging functionality, searchable reviews section, news and events section featuring the Kino Events Calendar, and a Flash animation updatable through the WordPress dashboard.
Website: www.arts-research-digest.com
Wedding videographer Tony Tait wanted to get away from the traditional white and formal design so we designed a logo and colour scheme that really captured the spirit of his personal yet professional business. Subtle creams contrasted with bold, painterly splashes of blue.
Building upon this brand identity we designed a website to showcase Tony’s work. The flexible WordPress content management system allows the upload of sample wedding videos and features PayPal ecommerce for online payment.

“We couldn’t have done it without your help, so thanks a million!” Mark Barrett, Creative Director, Elmtree Creative
Mark Barrett of Elmtree Creative contracted Kino Creative to build the CSS and XHTML of the new easyJetPlus! website shortly before Christmas 2009.
Due to a tight deadline, and knowing that this site had to be bomb proof, we set about rapidly putting together the code for the site, and after a mammoth week and a half delivered the final code on the cusp of New Years Eve. The site was packed up and sent over 100% W3C compliant, and checked thoroughly against a range of browsers both new and old.

Nano Central and Admiral PR asked us to redesign their website to take advantage of social media, and other web based technology such as RSS feeds.
Using WordPress as a CMS we rebuilt Nano’s site to reflect their brand, and coded numerous plugins specifically for Nano such as the Event Calendar, and a video streaming/live chat facility for conference broadcasting. The site is built to be fully W3C compliant.

As massive fans of Iain Banks we were delighted to get the chance to redesign his official website.
It was a complicated job requiring us to merge both Iain Bank’s fiction and non-fiction, as well as the US side of his writing into one website. We built the site in WordPress to allow it to be easily updated, and to take advantage of thebuilt in blogging technoglogy.
Website: www.iain-banks.net
Chris Brookmyre’s cover designs all draw inspiration from the great Saul Bass, so we tried to inject a bit of his spirit into the author’s new website.
WordPress was used as the Content Management System.
Website: www.brookmyre.co.uk
“On a tight deadline, Kino created a deliciously clean, stylish and above all functional website that merged four quite different sites into one elegant interface using wordpress as a backend content management system.
But what was especially satisfying was that during the rollout/launch of both book and website they responded professionally and promptly, and then acted on all queries and general snagging, without the usual designer-ego fuss or agency aloofness (aka: inaction). Quite simply: excellent.” Frank Coles

Claude & Celeste needed a professional look e-commerce, so we approached Kino with a basic brief. Very shortly they came back to us with some very good design, that we liked but we wanted to tweak it there was no problem with Kino they did respond very well to our demand and the final design exceeded our expectations.
“I found Kino and Seth to very flexible they listened our requirements. I will recommend them without a hesitation.” Alex Jimenez, Claude & Celeste
Kino designed the Claude & Celeste website to work cleanly and quickly in WordPress. We designed the site before handing over to Lightbulb who built in the eCommerce backend before making the site live.
Website: www.claude-celeste.com
Unusually we were not asked to work on the front end of the design for the updated Pelican People website as the site had recently been redesigned. Instead we were tasked with porting the entire site over to WordPress, and to develop a search widget so that users could locate training courses quickly.
The new site takes advantage of all of the usual WordPress functionality such as state of the art blog, social media integration, and easy to use CMS.

“I LOVE my UK site! :D” Michelle Zink, Author
Michelle Zink is a US author of horror-romance for young people. When the publisher Atom needed a website to promote her book Prophecy of the Sisters in the UK, they turned to us at Kino Creative. We delivered a dark and brooding gothic styled website that really suited the subject matter. The site is entirely content managed through WordPress, is totally accessible and comes first in Google search results.
Website: www.prophecyofthesisters.co.uk
“Thank you so much for my new website – you’ve made the whole process so easy that I’ve hardly known it was happening, and now we’re up and running I’m thrilled with how cleverly it all works. I know readers will find it much easier now to interact with me and discover more about my books.”
Louise Candlish, Author
The site for the author Louise Candlish needed to be bright, airy and feminine whilst not being “girly”. Taking the colour scheme and graphical elements from the cover of her latest novel, we quickly finalised a visual design that they were happy with. The site is powered by WordPress for easy content management.
Website: www.louisecandlish.co.uk
“Kino Creative built me a brilliant, simple-but-innovative website for Outlaw, with imaginative features including a delayed shooting arrow that have impressed me and my readers. It is easy to navigate, looks terrific and has all the essential ingredients for a site that will stand out from all the rest in cyber-space. A fine job, really well done.” Angus Donald, Author
The website is a customised WordPress build, and takes advantage of the platforms strong blogging functionality without looking anything much like a WordPress website!
