“We couldn’t have done it without your help, so thanks a million!” Mark Barrett, Creative Director, Elmtree Creative
Mark Barrett of Elmtree Creative contracted Kino Creative to build the CSS and XHTML of the new easyJetPlus! website shortly before Christmas 2009.
Due to a tight deadline, and knowing that this site had to be bomb proof, we set about rapidly putting together the code for the site, and after a mammoth week and a half delivered the final code on the cusp of New Years Eve. The site was packed up and sent over 100% W3C compliant, and checked thoroughly against a range of browsers both new and old.

Nano Central and Admiral PR asked us to redesign their website to take advantage of social media, and other web based technology such as RSS feeds.
Using WordPress as a CMS we rebuilt Nano’s site to reflect their brand, and coded numerous plugins specifically for Nano such as the Event Calendar, and a video streaming/live chat facility for conference broadcasting. The site is built to be fully W3C compliant.

As massive fans of Iain Banks we were delighted to get the chance to redesign his official website.
It was a complicated job requiring us to merge both Iain Bank’s fiction and non-fiction, as well as the US side of his writing into one website. We built the site in WordPress to allow it to be easily updated, and to take advantage of thebuilt in blogging technoglogy.

Chris Brookmyre’s cover designs all draw inspiration from the great Saul Bass, so we tried to inject a bit of his spirit into the author’s new website.
WordPress was used as the Content Management System.

“On a tight deadline, Kino created a deliciously clean, stylish and above all functional website that merged four quite different sites into one elegant interface using wordpress as a backend content management system.
But what was especially satisfying was that during the rollout/launch of both book and website they responded professionally and promptly, and then acted on all queries and general snagging, without the usual designer-ego fuss or agency aloofness (aka: inaction). Quite simply: excellent.” Frank Coles

“We needed a professional look e-commerce, so we approached Kino with a basic brief. Very shortly they came back to us with some very good design, that we liked but we wanted to tweak it there was no problem with Kino they did respond very well to our demand and the final design excided our expectations.
I found Kino and Seth to very flexible they listened our requirements. I will recommend them without a hesitation.” Alex Jimenez, Claude & Celeste
Kino designed the Claude & Celeste website to work cleanly and quickly in WordPress. We designed the site before handing over to Lightbulb who built in the eCommerce backend before making the site live.

Unusually we were not asked to work on the front end of the design for the updated Pelican People website as the site had recently been redesigned. Instead we were tasked with porting the entire site over to WordPress, and to develop a search widget so that users could locate training courses quickly.
The new site takes advantage of all of the usual WordPress functionality such as state of the art blog, social media integration, and easy to use CMS.

“I LOVE my UK site! :D” Michelle Zink, Author
Michelle Zink is a US author of horror-romance for young people. When the publisher Atom needed a website to promote her book Prophecy of the Sisters in the UK, they turned to us at Kino Creative. We delivered a dark and brooding gothic styled website that really suited the subject matter. The site is entirely content managed through WordPress, is totally accessible and comes first in Google search results.

“Thank you so much for my new website – you’ve made the whole process so easy that I’ve hardly known it was happening, and now we’re up and running I’m thrilled with how cleverly it all works. I know readers will find it much easier now to interact with me and discover more about my books.”
Louise Candlish, Author
The site for the author Louise Candlish needed to be bright, airy and feminine whilst not being “girly”. Taking the colour scheme and graphical elements from the cover of her latest novel, we quickly finalised a visual design that they were happy with. The site is powered by WordPress for easy content management.

“Kino Creative built me a brilliant, simple-but-innovative website for Outlaw, with imaginative features including a delayed shooting arrow that have impressed me and my readers. It is easy to navigate, looks terrific and has all the essential ingredients for a site that will stand out from all the rest in cyber-space. A fine job, really well done.” Angus Donald, Author
The website is a customised Wordpress build, and takes advantage of the platforms strong blogging functionality without looking anything much like a Wordpress website!

Nina Bell’s books are set in Kent with a historical slant, and we responded with a site that is rustic in tone and looks to the past while remaining clean and modern.
Again we built in a full content management system using Wordpress, giving the author full control over the site content and a blog enabling a 2-way discourse with her readers.

When asked to produce a website for Jenny Colgan we knew that it would need a Content Management System so that the site could be updated by the author.
We also knew that a blog was a good idea, and we wanted the site to be fully W3C compliant.
Using a soft approach to design, we built a comfortable site with a friendly feel. Take a look and let Jenny know what you think!

We redesigned the Train4Tradeskills website to be clean, easy to use and quick to load.

This is the only time that work has been outsourced back to us in the UK from India, and so it was with real excitement that we launched into the redesign of Kisan.in.
Kisan were after a bespoke approach to design that they couldn’t find in India. They also needed the design to get across the Kisan brand.
The main challenges were those of communication, but by using Skype and MSN to their full we launched the website on budget and on time.

As a media buying company dealing with high profile companies, it is essential that Chase Media Solutions had a modern and expressive website to reflect their specific image.
We built the site in Flash using a combination of scripted particle effects, bespoke animation and streaming FLV to add flavour to the site. Keeping the load times down was also important in this effects heavy design.

The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) is a government department dealing with issues such as privacy, identity theft and the Data Protection Act. When they set out to reach a younger audience our web design expertise was called upon.
This was to be a very high profile project and had to stand up to close scrutiny by professionals within the industry. The site had to be attractive to young people from 10-20 years old, adhere to accessibility guidelines and fit in to the ICO’s existing content management system.

Vertigo is a talent management company with a difference. Sick of touring the land going to gigs, they felt that a more 21st century approach would be to do all the work from the comfort of their office.
So we built them a funky website and a fully integrated Content Management System, as well as Bebo and MySpace pages. Now bands come to Vertigo and can submit all their music and videos directly the Vertigo backend management system.
So if you want to make it big then submit your creations through the Vertigo website

The website for Jess Williams was designed from the ground up to be a stylish shell from which Jess William’s photos could sell themselves.
We also built in a secure eCommerce system and shopping cart, as well as a Content Management System (CMS) so that Jess can update all her products quickly.
It’s always nice to get good feedback, so in Jess’ own words:
“Thanks so much again for all your work – I’m so so delighted with the look of the site and how it all operates. I really can’t think of anything I could want differently.”

For Ann Winter’s Ink and Lead Theatre website we were given a very open brief, but asked to produce a website that was substantially better than the average author’s website.
We chose the obvious visual metaphor for any writer’s website, the book, but we made sure it was special on a number of levels.
By using an interactive ‘Flash book’ we ensured that the user was sucked into the experience, but was also made to feel like they were part of a story and not just browsing an online portfolio.
